Both new engines are paired with a new eight-speed automatic transmission.

The storied 4Runner TRD Pro features a two-speed, part-time four-wheel drive (4WD) system with active traction control, FOX® QS3 adjustable monotube shock absorbers, a disconnecting stabilizer bar, an aluminum skid plate, and Toyo® Open Country all-terrain tires. The new Trailhunter trim includes the same tires, 4WD system, and stabilizer bar, plus Old Man Emu monotube shocks, steel skid plates and protectors, and many other rugged elements.
